  • Pure aloe vera gel – 4 teaspoons

  • Grated beeswax – 1 teaspoon

  • Activated charcoal – 1 or 2 capsules [for ‘black’ eyeliner]

  • Cocoa powder – (1/2) tablespoon [for ‘brown’ eyeliner]

How-To:

  1. Take pure aloe vera gel in a clean saucepan.

  2. Pour organic coconut oil into it. Also, add grated beeswax to the pan.

  3. Put it over low heat and stir with a spoon until the beeswax melts completely to form an even mixture.

  4. Add activated charcoal or cocoa powder (as per your preference of color). Stir again with a spoon until everything is combined properly.

  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool down.

  6. Pour it into a clean plastic bag, pushing it toward its corners.

  7. Make a tiny hole at the opposite corner of the bag.

  8. Now, take a clean and empty mascara tube and push the mixture into the plastic bag through the hole.

  9. Transfer the mixture into the tube slowly and twist the wand tightly to make it airtight.

Recipe 2:

Ingredients:

  • Jojoba oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Glycerin – 1 tablespoon

  • Pure aloe vera gel – 1(1/2) tablespoons

  • Candelilla wax – 3 tablespoons

  • Emulsifying wax – 2 tablespoons

  • Ozokerite wax – 2 tablespoons

  • Stearic acid – 2 tablespoons

  • Activated charcoal/cocoa powder – 2 tablespoons (other color grinds of your preference can also be used)

  • Wetting oil (of your choice) – 1 tablespoon

  • HEC (hydroxyethylcellulose) – (1/2) tablespoon

  • Distilled water – 3 tablespoons

  • Preservative – (1/2) teaspoon (optional)

How-To:

  1. Pour wetting oil and color grind of your choice in a mixing bowl. Mix them well and set aside.

  2. Take candelilla wax, emulsifying wax, ozokerite wax, and stearic acid in a saucepan. Place it over low heat. Keep stirring the whole thing with a spoon occasionally, and let it melt down gradually.

  3. Take jojoba oil, pure aloe vera gel, glycerin, and distilled water in another saucepan. Place it over low heat, too.

  4. Once the oil-gel mixture is warm enough, please remove it from the heat and add HEC. Stir with the help of a spoon so that HEC gets dissolved completely.

  5. Remove the melted wax mixture from the heat and add the color mixture. Once again, stir to combine everything.

  6. Now, pour the HEC-dissolved oil-gel mixture into this wax-color mixture and keep stirring so no lump is formed.

  7. Put the saucepan over medium-low heat and blend everything well to form a smooth, uniform concoction.

  8. When all the ingredients come together, turn the heat off and add preservatives to the mixture while stirring it continuously.

  9. Pour it into the clean, empty mascara tube like the previous way.

Make sure you change the tube and wand every 4 to 6 months to avoid the growth of bacteria in your homemade mascara.
